Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka-31 matches/ 1016 runs)

Sri Lanka has got one of the finest batsmen that scored up to 1000 runs at the T20 World Cup, thus owning the top position. He earned 1016 runs and became among the top run-getters in the world. Out of 31 matches, Mahela played between 2007 and 2014, having an average run rate of 39 with six half-centuries and one century. He earned the 1st victory against Zimbabwe in 2010 and at a strike rate of 134.74. 

Chris Gayle (West Indies- 28 matches/ 920 runs)

Chris Gayle lacks only 97 runs to become the highest score batsman in the T20 world cup. Gayle is representing his country, West Indies, for the 7th time in the T20 world cup. He has made many runs thus settled on 2nd place in the list of most run-getters at the T20 world cup match. There are a total of 920 runs in the competition. He is the only batsman that has scored 2 T20 world cup hundreds. He has made an average of 40 and a strike rate of 146. He made up to 60 sixes in the competition, which is twice the batsmen, Yuvraj Singh, who is in the most sixes list in the tournament. Between 2007 and 2016, Gayle played 28 T20 world cup matches. 

Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka- 35 matches/897 runs)

Tillakaratne Dilshan has remained the most impressive batsman, famous for out-of-the-box shots for scoring enough runs to be called the most successful batsmen. He remains steadfast in his performance and made his team and country proud at the T20 world cup. He attained 897 runs in 35 games and became the 2nd highest scorer for his country. He earned six half-centuries that aid their team to chase targets against their opponents. Dilshan had made a strike rate of over 124 runs and 101 fours, and 20 sixes in the T20 world cup.

Virat Kohli (India-16 matches/777 runs)

Virat Kohli might be performing his captaincy for India for the last time, but having an age of 32, he still has about 2-3 world Cup matches left for him. Between 2012 and 2016, Virat has played 16 matches and scored 777 runs. He has nine half-centuries and has a strike rate of over 133 marks. He is ranked fourth in the list of top-run getters in the competition.

AB de Villiers (South Africa- 30 matches/717 runs)

He is considered to be the most feared batsman by many cricketers. He had scored up to 717 runs in 30 matches between 2007 and 2016 at the T20 world cup. He had a strike rate of over 143, and also, he didn’t attain any century in the world cup, but the highest score of 79 has always made his fans happy with this tremendous achievement. He is on the fifth number to score most runs in the T20 world cup.
